Harold Crick (Ferrell) is an IRS agent trapped in a mundane life until the day he realises that the voice in his head is actually the narrator, and he is just a character in a novel that is rapidly reaching its conclusion.

This is one of those rare films that is high on romance without the cheesy, predictable cringe-factor. In fact, it’s one of the most original films to be released in recent years. It is not a chick-flick or a slapstick Ferrell vehicle but rather sets a whimsical mood that appeals to both men and women. It is sweet, funny and the performances are magic.

Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Ana Pascal, an anarchist baker who creates cookies and cakes that will have you salivating through the screen. You’ll need a sweet tooth for this DVD date because your menu will consist of piles and piles of baked goodies.
